I haven’t posted in a long time! A lot has happened since the first of January and I just can’t believe it is already March 2016. Back in December, feeling discouraged about needing surgery to remove polyps, I thought this time would never come. However, we are now in the thick of it and we are on day 2 of 12 of our injections.
Our cycle officially started the beginning of February with the start of my periiod. I actually have a draft post saved on the day my period was due because I started spotting and thought “YES! It is on time!!” Well, my normal regular cycle was a week late. A whole freaking week! So, it delayed EVERYTHING!
My clinic had me start birth bontrol the 3rd day of my cycle. They also had both Patrick and I take Doxycycline for 10 days to get rid of anything going on that shouldn’t be. I tell ya, it was a pain to schedule out all these meds. So many have to be taken with food and can’t be taken within two hours of each other. So, I would take Doxy first thing in the morning with food. I then took my prenatals at lunch, Doxy again with dinner, finally my BCP two hours later plus Aspirin, Levothyroxine and a big dose of Vitamin D. On Feb 28th I started taking a steroid called Dexamethasone (hello insomnia and RLS) and on Feb 29th, I took my last day of birth control.
I had an ultrasound at my clinic and a blood draw last Thursday. My follicles look good. They should be small and all under 10mm. My largest was 6mm. Dr. Bankowski said he could see 10 on one side and 18 on the other. He said there could be more but they are just too small to see right now. Last month I had 40, so I am hoping for the same thing this month. My ovies will hurt a lot while they grow that big, but it will be worth it! They did a check on my estradiol and it was <5, so that was really good too. I still barely have enough Vitamin D, so I am back to taking 4,000 IUs a day! If I was still in CA, I doubt I would have such a Vitamin D problem!
It is nice to not be taking so many pills right now, but adding in the injections was another hurdle. I now take Menopur at 7am and Follistim at 7pm. Patrick is mixing and administering the injections. The first one of Menopur hurt a lot. The stick itself AND the burning meds. I cried, a bit and then put on my big girl pants and went to breakfast with Patrick. We tried Café Broder, after my acupuncturist, Brooke, told me about it several times. I actually thought we had been there before, but once I got there, I realized this would be a new place for us. It is a cute Swedish spot and we beat the rush with only a 15 minute wait. So there, you have it. March 5th wasn’t just the day Patrick shot me in the ass with a burning needle, it was the day we tried Café Broder!
The Follistim was a lot easier. The medicine doesn’t require complicated mixing and it didn’t burn going in. My thigh was sore after, but I can deal. I don’t know if it is the side effects of the Dexamethasone, or the Follistim, but I have RLS bad!
This morning I was super nervous to take the Menopur again since I knew what it felt like yesterday. I was not in a good mood about it. It was just a bad morning and I cried a lot. Maybe I will just blame it on PMS with a side of extra hormones, but dang I’ve been emotional lately! I am determined for tomorrow to be different in the morning since we need to get to work!
To my darling child : You are worth it.
This is my #IVFLife
