We woke up around 5:25 AM to a hungry dog wanting an early breakfast. It was hard to go back to sleep because we were both anxious about the call from the embryologist. Today is day five and we are doing a fresh embryo transfer. The anxiety partly resided In not knowing if we had any embryos to transfer at all. After the retrieval on Wednesday we only had 2 embryos, a number we were very concerned about. We got a call later in the morning. Holding our breath, we were so scared that the embryos didn’t make it.
We had 1. The other one stopped growing. The one that was still growing, was developing a little slower than anticipated. Nevertheless they felt comfortable moving forward with the transfer.
So we got to ORM(our clinic) and got all checked in. Diane received pre-transfer acupuncture and while we were waiting to go in the operating room a nurse told us that the second embryo that we were told stopped growing started growing again or splitting cells. I am not sure what it really was doing, but it meant we could transfer the second one as well. Of course the delayed growth is not ideal, but we remain hopeful. Make it a double.
We are now at home. Diane is on bed rest and we are just binging on shows and movies. The transfer went well. We will have our first of hopefully 2 pregnancy tests in nine days. More news coming soon.
