Today is the day after our egg retrieval. I got a message from my wife that there was bad news. Of the 22 eggs retrieved yesterday only 12 were mature and only 2 fertilized. This was shocking because we both felt things were going to be different our second go round.

In our first attempt we had 21 eggs, 16 mature, 8 fertilized, then eventually one made it to blast, but no pregnancy.

I know that having two fertilize is something to hold onto but in our stage of grieving and anger we started wondering why the results were not in our favor.  We started googling success rates for two fertilized. We googled what happens if the trigger shot was too early or too late. We just don’t know and what is disconcerting is that we will probably never know. It is just the hand we are dealt. And we just hope the next card that shows will be in our favor. Day 5 is on Monday. We will let you know what is up then. For now stay hopeful readers.
