Today is Stim Day 11 and for me, it is the day I do my trigger shot. I received confirmation after my appointment with Dr. Bankowski today. He decided to increase my Follistim dose to 300IUs (first change in meds for me this cycle). In addition to doing an HCG Trigger shot, I would do a shot of Lupron. After Googling this, I found that Lupron is effective in preventing Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS). This is something I’ve been worried I would get and so I was thankful that my clinic was careful with me. OHSS is a condition that affects the ovaries of some women who take fertility drugs and women with PCOS are at higher risk. Most cases are mild, but if not managed, can cause severe problems. Needless to say, I did everything they told me to do to ensure I wouldn’t develop this. So far, I only have mild bloating and uncomfortable feeling.
My follicles looked good. There were some as large as 21mm. Its looking like I have 24 follicles. On average this translates to 24 eggs, but it is possible for some follicles to not carry any eggs.
My Trigger time is 11pm tonight. Way past my bedtime! With all the extra shots, I will be getting poked 6 times today, not to mention the poke to get my blood work.
This means my retrieval will be on Wednesday. This is 35 hours after I do my Trigger shot. I am very excited, but getting nervous!!
