The picture above is us leaving the hospital. Patrick is happily driving us home and I’m trying not to appear too groggy in our photo.
I am so relieved that as of this moment, I have minimal pain and I am recovering well. Patrick and I woke up at 4am to take showers and get dressed before heading to the hospital at 4:45am. I was surprisingly OK with everything. As soon as I was settled in the Short Stay Unit, I felt calm. Patrick seemed a little nervous than I was. As we were waiting for our surgery time, Patrick waves to someone…..it was my parents! They showed up and it was so nice to see them before I went off to surgery. Having my mom around always makes me feel better. Even today, I want her with me when I don’t feel well. It was good to see my Dad too because, like Patrick, he can always make me laugh.
So, major positive was that Patrick was finally able to meet Dr. Davis (my OBGYN) and my parents were too. Have I mentioned how much I like my doctor? Dr. Davis is really great and I totally recommend him if you’re in the Portland area. When we are finally pregnant with Baby David, he will be our doctor and I know we will be in good hands.
A not so comfortable, but funny thing was that Dr. Davis spoke in detail about my cervix and uterus in front of my Dad. I am sure it was a shocking moment for my Dad to become conscience of the fact that I have those things. LOL
They only did a light sedation so my recovery time inside the hospital was super short. We left the hospital before 10:30am! I don’t remember much but I do remember them saying my name to wake me up. For some reason I told them I thought they were a bunch of CPAs and that I was dreaming about work. Go Figure!
Patrick and my parents were waiting in the waiting room. According to my parents, Patrick jumped up as soon as he saw my status change to “Ready”! I thought that was sweet 🙂
My parents came over after the surgery with Oyster Crackers- my fave! We watched Home Alone together while Patrick worked in the other room. My parents left to go run errands and I went to sleep for several hours only occasionally waking up to the sound of Patrick’s conference call that sounded so boring I think it put me right back to sleep 🙂
I am taking the day off to recover tomorrow and make sure I am A-OK before returning to work. Patrick will head back to work and is probably anxious to do so. I think I was pretty boring today 🙂
