My hysteroscopy is tomorrow morning at 7:30am. Patrick and I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am! Holy wake up call, Batman! As I am typing this, I am feeling so nervous, but also at a point where I just want it behind me. Beyond two oral surgeries, I haven’t gone through a surgery (especially with this level of anesthesia) I just Googled the procedure and probably shouldn’t have done that (ever been there?). The procedure should only last about 30 minutes, but since I will be under heavy sedation, I will be at the hospital several hours recovering.
So here is what they do………
My Doctor inserts a device called a hysteroscope into my uterus through my cervix. The device has a light on it and a camera. Dr. Davis will find the polyps inside my uterus and use a blade to extract them from my uterine wall. Sounds simple enough, right?
This procedure is done for other reasons as well. A doctor will use the same tool to view the uterus and opening of the fallopian tubes in order to diagnose a cause for infertility or for continued miscarriages.
I truly am grateful that my doctor was able to get this scheduled right away, that it is a procedure covered by my insurance and that it gets us one step closer to bringing home Baby David.
